Best Tech Pack Software for Fashion Brands in 2026

The right tech pack software depends on where you lose time. If you are still developing the product, an AI product development workspace such as clothink takes you from idea to sketch to photoreal mockup, then drafts the tech pack from the approved design. If your designs are finished and you need structured, shareable documentation, Techpacker is the established specialist. Teams designing in CLO 3D get tech packs from CLO-SET, and businesses running inventory or a retail supply chain look at ApparelMagic, Bamboo Rose TotalPLM or BlueCherry.

clothink publishes this guide and is included in the comparison. Features and pricing were checked against each vendor’s own pages on 14 October 2026, and prices change, so confirm before you buy.

Four kinds of tech pack software

Most tools fit one of four groups, and the group matters more than the feature list.

  • AI product development workspaces. Design and specification in one place: sketches, palettes, artwork and photoreal mockups, with the tech pack drafted from the approved design. clothink is built this way.
  • AI tech pack generators. Upload a photo or sketch and get a draft pack back. One is standalone (AI Tech Packs); others sit inside larger AI design platforms (Raspberry AI, The New Black).
  • Dedicated tech pack builders. Templates, grading, version control and factory sharing for designs you have already finished. Techpacker is the long-running example.
  • 3D, PLM and ERP platforms. Tech packs as one part of a bigger system: CLO-SET for 3D garments, ApparelMagic for ERP, and Bamboo Rose TotalPLM and BlueCherry for enterprise operations.

clothink: from idea to tech pack in one AI workspace

clothink is an AI product development workspace for apparel. You can start from a written idea, a reference or a sketch, create coloured, flat or fashion sketches, build colour palettes and artwork, and turn the chosen design, or just a description, into photoreal mockups. Precise edit changes one part, such as a collar, and leaves the rest alone. The sketches, mockups and tech pack for each product stay together in one style.

When the design is ready, Auto-Complete drafts the tech pack from the linked mockup or sketch: the bill of materials, size chart, construction notes and fabric and colour specs. It also draws a How to Measure guide and places numbered call outs on the sketch. Every section stays editable. Split view puts the form beside the live PDF, Your layouts sets the page order and a layout per section, and accessories such as bags, caps and belts get their own fields. A pack exports as a branded PDF and an Excel workbook laid out like the PDF, factory-ready after review.

And the specification pages: the photoreal mockup, the graded size chart, the bill of materials and packaging. Exported from clothink at prototype stage.

Several AI tech pack generators start from a photo you upload. clothink drafts from the design you developed in the same workspace, so the specification starts from the same approved design. You can still start from an existing sketch or photo.

What it is not: clothink does not cut patterns or simulate fit, it has no factory portal, and it is not an ERP or enterprise PLM. AI drafts still need checking by someone who knows the garment before anything goes to a factory.

Other AI tech pack tools

These tools generate a draft pack from a photo, sketch or description, and they are quick to try. The same limit applies to all of them, clothink included: an image cannot show hidden construction or prove fit, so every measurement and note needs a technical check.

Dedicated, 3D and PLM tools

Techpacker

Techpacker is a long-running cloud tech pack and PLM app with two kinds of product. Techpack Builder, a free desktop app for Mac and Windows, keeps your files on your own computer. Its separate paid cloud plans add the features below, which include libraries, automatic grading, version control, live collaboration, sharing with manufacturers, product stages and Time and Action reporting, with PDF export on every plan and Excel export from PLM Professional. Its PLM tiers are also sold under the PLMBR brand, which markets AI image and tech pack generation.

Techpacker’s pricing page lists a cloud Techpack Builder plan at $35 per user per month, PLM Professional at $95 and PLM Premium at $125, all paid yearly, with a 7-day trial and no card. Choose Techpacker when your designs are finished and you need structured documentation, grading and manufacturer sharing more than design tools. See Techpacker pricing. Comparing other options? CLO-SET

CLO-SET is the collaboration platform around CLO 3D. Its Web Tech Pack builds the pack from your 3D garment, including the BOM, measurements, construction and costing, so the pack updates with the model. Plans run from free (up to three users) to $20 and $40 per user per month, and the CLO licence is extra. Choose CLO-SET when 3D garment data is your source of truth.

ApparelMagic

ApparelMagic is an ERP and PLM for apparel businesses, covering costing, vendors, inventory and production, and it promotes an AI Designer that generates product visuals inside the system. Professional costs $337 a month for three users and Enterprise $655 for five, paid annually; Ultimate is quoted. Choose it when inventory, production and ERP matter more than a standalone tech pack workspace.

Bamboo Rose TotalPLM and BlueCherry

Bamboo Rose TotalPLM is enterprise product and supply-chain management for larger brands and retailers; Bamboo Rose says Backbone PLM remains supported for existing customers. BlueCherry is an ERP built for fashion and lifestyle brands, offered as modules. Neither showed a list price on the pages we checked, and both point buyers to a demo, so budget for implementation and services as well as licences. Choose them when formal process, retail scale and supply-chain depth matter more than speed from design to spec.

Which should you choose?

Where clothink fits

Most tech pack software starts once your design is finished. clothink starts earlier. You develop the product, visualise it and build the technical specification in the same workspace, so less information has to be recreated between tools. It is built for independent and growing brands, design studios and lean product teams without the overhead of an enterprise PLM.

  • Idea to supplier file in one place. Spec builders start from a finished design, and many AI tools start from a photo. In clothink, the sketches, palettes, artwork, photoreal mockups and tech pack for each product live together in one style.
  • A tech pack drafted from your design. Auto-Complete reads the approved mockup or sketch and drafts the BOM, size chart, construction notes, materials and colours, How to Measure guide and numbered call outs in one run. Because the tech pack is drafted from the same approved design, you reduce the re-entry and disconnect that comes from moving between separate tools, and your time goes on checking and refining.
  • Built for teams without a dedicated technical designer. No specialist CAD or Illustrator skills are needed to get started. Name the product in your own words, and ready-made size scales, Brand defaults and a material library give every draft sensible starting values. Team workspaces with roles let you bring in a co-founder, freelancer or production lead.
  • Free to start, with files suppliers can use. Every section stays editable, and a pack exports as a branded PDF and an Excel file. The Free plan needs no card: make and edit up to three active tech packs, with your first Auto-Complete free, then unlock a pack for £15 to download it, or choose a plan from £19 a month with every export included. See clothink pricing.

clothink is not a PLM or an ERP, and an AI draft still needs a technical check before it goes to a factory. But if your bottleneck is getting from an early design to a structured, editable factory specification, that is the workflow clothink is built around.

Frequently asked questions

How much does tech pack software cost?

From free to several hundred dollars a month. clothink has a Free plan and paid plans from £19 a month; Techpacker’s cloud plans start at $35 per user per month paid yearly, and its desktop app is free; CLO-SET has a free tier and paid plans from $20 per user; the AI tech pack generators in this guide start at $15 to $75 a month; ApparelMagic starts at $337 a month for three users; and enterprise PLMs quote on request.

What is the best tech pack software for small clothing brands?

It depends on where you lose time. If you are still developing the product, an AI workspace such as clothink takes you from idea to sketch to mockup and drafts the tech pack. If your designs are finished, Techpacker is the established specialist. On a tight budget, clothink’s Free plan, Techpacker’s free desktop app and CLO-SET’s free tier for up to three users all let you start without paying.

Can AI create a tech pack?

Yes, as a draft. clothink, AI Tech Packs, Raspberry AI, The New Black and others can draft flats, measurements, BOMs and construction notes. None can see hidden construction or prove fit, so someone technically competent should check every section before it goes to a factory.

Is there free tech pack software?

Yes. clothink’s Free plan lets you make and edit up to three active tech packs, with a £15 unlock to download one. Techpacker’s local desktop app is free for individual creators, CLO-SET is free for up to three users, Raspberry AI has a free plan with credits, and The New Black lets a free account build two tech packs by hand.

Which tech pack software has factory sharing, version control and PDF and Excel export?

Techpacker lists version control, live collaboration, sharing with manufacturers and PDF and Excel export. clothink exports a branded PDF and an Excel file that you send to the factory yourself; it has no factory portal. PLM platforms such as Bamboo Rose TotalPLM and BlueCherry add supplier-facing workflows for larger operations.

Is there a lighter alternative to enterprise PLM for small fashion brands?

Yes. A tech pack tool such as clothink or Techpacker covers the specification, bill of materials and size chart without the setup of a PLM or ERP. Enterprise PLMs such as Bamboo Rose TotalPLM and BlueCherry quote by demo, and ApparelMagic starts at $337 a month for three users. Brands usually add a PLM when volume, retailers or multi-factory production demand formal process.

Do you need a tech pack before approaching a manufacturer?

Not always for a first conversation, but you will normally need a detailed specification before you get a reliable quote or approve a production sample. Some manufacturers will discuss sketches, references or an existing sample first; a clear pack still reduces sampling risk and revision rounds.

Is a PDF from tech pack software ready to send to a factory?

Only after review. Measurements, tolerances, construction, material references, placements and any compliance information all need checking, and AI-drafted size charts and construction notes are proposals until fit is approved.

Does clothink make garment patterns?

No. When clothink talks about patterns it means seamless textile patterns and placement graphics in Artwork Studio, not graded garment blocks or production cutting patterns.
